Liberation Festival Drenthe: Terrain is full again

The Netherlands celebrates freedom today, in Drenthe it is most exuberantly done in Assen. It is so busy there that twice the site was full. The organization is now calling on people not to come to Assen anymore.

Earlier this afternoon – around half past four – the organization of the Liberation Festival also called on not to come to the site, because of the crowds. After about an hour, the site was accessible again. The organization estimates that between 25,000 and 35,000 people are on the festival site. “It has never been so busy,” says chairman Ger Boes.

At around a quarter to seven, the site was closed again and people were again urged not to come to the festival. “The gates are closed,” reports the organization. Not entirely coincidentally, that is half an hour before Suzan & Freek, the ambassadors of freedom, perform. During the performance of Kraantje Pappie it was also too busy, but after that performance the site could open again.
