“We deal with prevention of female cancers but also of the whole process that follows the intervention», explains the Doctor Paola Martinoni, breast surgeon, expert in first and second level diagnostics for the prevention of breast cancer for years dedicated to the follow-up of cancer patients and their physical and psychological support. “We are dedicated to rebirth of cancer patients at 360° offering them a individual guided tour. Each patient can count on the professionalism of our doctors and on a complete recovery and rebirth program, a personalized follow up arranged in close contact with the hospital of origin, but also the psychological support essential to overcome the period of oncological treatment”.
How the Libellule Onlus Association was born
In 2015, on the advice of Professor Umberto Veronesithe doctor Paola Martinonifounded theAssociation Dragonflies Onlus in memory of Franca Veronesi. And today it is an oncological reference point for hundreds of women who come from all over Italy.

A place of welcome and counseling
«In the Association the Woman never feels alone but part of a family, which welcomes her with warmth and empathy. For every woman we build the trust in a healing future, in a dedicated space, serene and free from anxieties and fears, with the precious contribution of counselingwhich helps women after illness to re-enter the world of work, to rediscover the affections of the family, to take back their lives with strength and positivity.
Visits and exams without waiting lists
One of the reasons for great stress when one has to deal with the disease is the organization of exams and visits, dealing with waiting times which are often very long. «In the Association the patients can carry out visits and exams in a short time booking no waiting lists. They can take advantage of advice from our doctors and specialists (nutritionist, osteopath, dermatologist, gynecologist, counselor) with dedicated time. Even the psychological support it is essential to defeat the disease, which is why we organize opportunities for information, socialization and rebirth», continues Dr. Martinoni.
Workshops and meetings to rediscover a new beauty
Even the aesthetic aspect is something that Associazione Libellule is dealing with within the actions to deal with recovery during and after illness. «We wish that the patients in therapy can as soon as possible rediscover your femininityfeel beautiful again and not just “get sick”, so we organize beauty and make-up workshops for them with Avon and beauty and massage sessions with Maria Galland Paris, to pamper them a little, give them some relief and relaxation. All this contributes to their rebirth as it develops and strengthens the self-healing power that is in all of us», explains Dr. Martinoni.
The ultrasound suspended for those in economic difficulty
For women who find themselves in financial difficulty and cannot wait for public service, Libellule Onlus has found a solution. None stay behind. «We want all these services to be available also for the women who contact us telling us their history of illness combined with economic difficulty. The National Health Service has not yet made up for the delays accumulated during the recent pandemic and waiting lists remain long.
We have borrowed the Neapolitan custom of “suspended coffee”, born during the Second World War, when, in very difficult times, people used to pay for two cups of coffee: one for themselves and one for those who could not afford it. We well know that cancer does not wait And with the donations we receive we try to help as many fragile patients as possible possible. All the contributions we receive participate in the important fundraiser 2023 “SUSPENDED ULTRASOUND”. Yours too», reassures Paola Martinoni.
