Liam Gallagher wants to form supergroup with The Stone Roses’ John Squire

Liam Gallagher hinted at a supergroup with The Stone Roses’ John Squire back in June, when he invited the band’s former guitarist to his two shows at Knebworth Park, England, to perform the Oasis classic 1995’s Champagne Supernova together. He then tweeted: “Super group incoming LG JS”.

“He’s my buddy, I love him”

In an interview with Matt Wilkinson for Apple Music, Gallagher has now confirmed the further collaboration: “But we have a few things to do first and he has a few things to work out first and so on. But yes, I will definitely do something at some point, ”said the singer.

When Wilkinson then asked if he had discussed the project in detail with Squire, he replied: “Maybe, yes. We probably did that in Knebworth and stuff like that I think if I can remember anything. But no. There are rumors about something. Maybe. But no hurry. He’s my buddy, I love him. So if he has any songs that need to be sung, I’m the one.”

Brandy against fear of the limelight

Also, Gallagher told him that he drinks brandy with honey and hot water to warm up his voice. “I drink half a bottle of brandy before my shows. I’ve scaled back the amount a bit now. But over the last year I’ve topped the brandy with honey and hot water and taken it a little further. I’ve been a little battered on stage lately. I wouldn’t say I’m nervous, but I think as you get older you get a little bit…you’re not as confident,” Gallagher said.

Most recently, he released the DIAMOND IN THE DARK EP on August 12th, which features three versions of the song of the same name and the track “Bless You”. The original version of “Diamond In The Dark” previously appeared on his current album C’MON YOU KNOW, which was released on May 27th, 2022 as a deluxe edition.
