Liam Gallagher said a malicious farewell to FC Bayern Munich on Wednesday evening (April 19), who lost to Manchester City in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League. “BYE,” wrote the former oasis-Singer just after the final whistle on his Twitter account.

Manchester native Liam Gallagher has never made a secret of the fact that his footballing heart is with Manchester City. Together with his brother Noel Gallagher he swore allegiance to the “Sky Blues” back in the 70s, like he did “Guardians” once told. The fact that the workers’ association has meanwhile advanced to become a sheik’s club doesn’t matter to the Working Class cantor. The fact that a Twitter user Gallagher pointed out the small spelling mistake (“Bye” instead of “Bye”) certainly doesn’t bother him – the British don’t use umlauts or eszett.
Bayern Munich lost the first leg in Manchester on April 11 3-0. So the German record champions already had a tricky starting position for the second leg on April 19 in Munich. After Manchester City took the lead through a goal from Erling Haaland, Bayern would have had to score four goals to stay in contention. However, the team coached by Thomas Tuchel was unable to achieve more than a 1-1 draw after Joshua Kimmich equalized.
