There will be B-sides and a Beatles cover to be heard live. There’s also news about the tour visuals.
Liam Gallagher is starting his tour in a few months to celebrate the anniversary of Oasis’ debut album DEFINITELY MAYBE. The record will have its 30th birthday in 2024. Now the singer has revealed more details and announced that he will not be playing solo songs at the shows.
B-sides instead of “solo stuff”
A fan asked him on the X platform (formerly Twitter) whether one could expect encores in the form of solo songs at the end of the shows. Gallagher replied: “No solo stuff.” He also made it clear that he would rather play B-sides from the Oasis debut as well as a cover of the Beatles song “I Am The Walrus” live. Here is the entire X message from Gallagher:
According to Gallagher, the B-sides to be expected live could also include “Half the World Away” – a song originally sung by his brother Noel Gallagher.
Noel Gallagher “was asked and he declined”
The Brit’s tour starts on June 2, 2024 in Sheffield, England and will include twelve gigs in Great Britain and Ireland – three shows each in London and his hometown of Manchester. When the singer announced the anniversary tour, he wrote in an Instagram post: “I’m jumping around the house because I’m announcing the Definitely Maybe tour. The most important album of the 90s, bar none. Without it I would be nowhere and neither would you, so let’s celebrate together.” Since it’s the anniversary of Oasis and not just Liam Gallagher, Noel Gallagher was probably also asked if he wanted to take part in the tour. “He was asked and he declined,” reported Liam Gallagher via X.
Flamingos and lasagna
In another post, he revealed his “visual plans” for the shows, writing: “It’s going to be mega, believe me I’m going to do it visually, I’m going to bring the cover to life on stage, flamingos, bowls of lasagna, into which I will dive headfirst naked.” His vision could be a reference to the flamingo on the fireplace that graces the cover of DEFINITELY MAYBE.
