After Liam Gallagher and John Squire have already spoken about a collaboration several times and have already performed live together, the prospects are now becoming concrete. The ex-Oasis member and the Stone Roses guitarist not only officially announced a duo record for next year, but also immediately released a song snippet. The single entitled “Just Another Rainbow” is scheduled to be released in its entirety on January 5th, 2024.
A “psychedelic-tinged guitar” awaits us
The press release for the album and single teaser talks about a “stunning” collection of songs. The pre-release track would be a combination of “psychedelic-tinged guitar” from John Squire and the “passion, personality and utmost conviction” from Gallagher’s vocals.
Squire also said of the song’s content: “For me, the most obvious interpretation of ‘Just Another Rainbow’ is that it’s about disappointment and never getting what you really want.”

The musicians’ long-standing friendship
Gallagher has previously expressed his enthusiasm about working with the Stone Roses member and confidently described the upcoming record as “the best since ‘Revolver'” – in reference to the Beatles’ seventh album from 1966.
The two Brits have a long-standing friendship, and while the former Oasis singer sees his new musical partner as a “top songwriter,” Squire celebrates on Instagram: “Liam Gallagher is one of the greatest rock ‘n’ roll voices of all time. I put him in the same class as Dylan, Lennon, Jagger & Rotten.”
Back in June 2023, John Squire joined Liam Gallagher on stage at a concert in Knebworth, England, to perform the Oasis classic “Champagne Supernova” with him. This appearance fueled speculation among fans about a collaboration.
A tour by the duo is now reportedly under discussion. There is no concrete information about this yet – just as there is no information about the release date of the joint record.
