Liam Gallagher and John Squire share single “Just Another Rainbow”

Liam Gallagher and John Squire have released the first taste of their joint record (release date not yet known) with the track “Just Another Rainbow”.

The former Oasis singer and the ex-The Stone Roses guitarist also included a music video to accompany the single release. Directed by Charles Mehling, the clip begins with Gallagher running through an abandoned train tunnel. From there, he leads Squire and a backing band through a live performance.

In keeping with the psychedelic-tinged guitar, the video shows scenes that are artfully shown through a prism. In terms of content, the rainbow here represents the rather disappointing result of a long search. Hoping to hit a sack of gold, you ultimately realize that it’s “just another rainbow” that you get.

The duo have had a long-standing friendship. In an interview with Apple Music 1, Gallagher explained that from the beginning he had “no doubts” that they would harmonize musically. In the same conversation, the singer revealed that there would be a total of ten tracks on the two musicians’ upcoming LP and that there would be no real album title because: “It’s just Liam and John, like Liam Gallagher and John Squire.”

The 51-year-old also seems to be very happy with the result, describing the record as “the best since ‘Revolver,'” referring to the Beatles’ seventh album from 1966. However, the two have not officially broken up yet want to set a release date.
