The CocoLoco foundation from Emmen has been selected as one of the 80 participants to sail with the Canal Parade in Amsterdam on Saturday, August 3.
It is the first time that an LGBTQIA+ foundation in Drenthe has managed to obtain a starting ticket for this colorful festival. The participants were announced on Sunday, February 11 during the official kick-off in Amsterdam.
The freedom to be yourself
The Canal Parade is the highlight of Pride Amsterdam; a multi-day festival where the freedom to be yourself is central. On Saturday, August 3, a colorful procession of 80 boats will sail through the canals of Amsterdam, the so-called Canal Parade. Nowhere in the world is Pride celebrated on such a scale on the water as in Amsterdam. It is visited by more than 100,000 visitors.
The CocoLoco foundation sails on one of those 80 boats. In 2019, the foundation started organizing the Rainbow Festival in Emmen. An annual festival that stands up for the interests of the LGBTQIA+ community in Drenthe.
