LFDY: Slam Dunk in Dusseldorf

The Düsseldorf streetwear label Live Fast Die Young (LFDY) brings basketball to its home country.

Last week LFDY inaugurated its new basketball court in Düsseldorf-Flingern. With the opening of the square, the brand wants to establish and actively promote more free sports opportunities for young people in the city, the streetwear label confirmed when asked by FashionUnited.

“This basketball court gets everyone off the sofa, promotes team spirit and strengthens the community,” says LFDY founder Lorenz Amend. “Playing together and training properly – maybe new stars will even be born here. We are very excited and are watching how the space and the community around it develop.”

The court, which was designed by the architects Schwitzke & Partner and Landschaft + Garten Udo Jochems, might look familiar to fans of the brand, because it is – like the interior of the LFDY stores – almost entirely in black. The design elements of the course include a dark acrylic floor with white accents and the lettering “Live Fast”, a black backboard and a black basket net.

For the project, the existing sports field at Schlüterstraße 18 was expanded to include new benches, a new route and a new outdoor area. In order to keep the place well-kept, LFDY will also have it cleaned regularly.
