Lewis Capaldi announces tour break

The 26-year-old first wanted to take care of his mental and physical health, he wrote on Instagram.

Lewis Capaldi announced in an Instagram post on Tuesday (June 27) that he is taking a break from touring. “The fact that this is probably not a surprise doesn’t make it any easier to write,” he began his statement. “I’m sorry to announce that I will be taking a break from touring for the foreseeable future.” The 26-year-old added that he used to “love every second of shows like this [Glastonbury] enjoy”, but this is no longer the case. “I’m still adjusting to the effects of my Tourette’s Syndrome and on Saturday I realized I need to spend a lot more time getting my mental and physical health in order if I’m going to be doing that for a long time to come can do what I love.”

Lewis Capaldi was diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome

The announcement follows a difficult situation for the Scot at his Glastonbury gig. Due to his Tourette Syndrome, he was unable to perform the song “Someone You Love” to the end, whereupon the audience, consisting of around 150,000 people, stepped in for him. “My tic gets pretty bad on stage,” he explained in an April 2023 interview. “I’m trying to get a grip on that. If that doesn’t work, I’m screwed. It’s easier when I play the guitar, but I hate playing the guitar.”
