Lewandowski signs for four seasons with FC Barcelona | NOW

Robert Lewandowski has completed his transfer to FC Barcelona. The 33-year-old Pole, who comes over from Bayern Munich, signed a four-year contract with the Catalans on Tuesday. Earlier, the clubs reported that an agreement had been reached.

At the end of last season, Lewandowski already hinted that he was ready for a new challenge. Bayern initially did not want to cooperate with a transfer, but the Polish top striker persisted in his desire to move.

FC Barcelona soon proved to be the most concrete and after lengthy negotiations, both clubs reached an agreement earlier this month. The Catalans will pay 45 million euros (plus 5 million euros in bonuses) for the striker, whose contract with the champions of Germany is due to expire in mid-2023. The contract includes an escape clause of 500 million euros.

Lewandowski made the switch from Borussia Dortmund to Bayern Munich in 2014. The Pole has since gone on to become one of the best strikers in the club’s history.

In 2020, he made a generous contribution to the Champions League final victory of ‘Der Rekordmeister’ with fifteen goals. Last year, he won the World Cup for clubs.

Lewandowski won the FIFA Player of the Year award in both 2020 and 2021. The top striker has never won the Golden Ball: last year he narrowly recognized his superiority in Lionel Messi in the prestigious election.
