The US clothing retailer Levi Strauss & Co. can press ahead with the expansion of its logistics capacities in Germany as planned. On Wednesday, the Dutch project developer Delta Development Group announced that the building permit for a large-scale project in Dorsten had been granted and that the first construction work should start “soon”.

Levi Strauss announced last year that it wanted to build a new distribution center in the North Rhine-Westphalian city. After completion, which is planned for 2023, all sales channels of the Levi’s brand in the region will be supplied from there. According to Delta Development, the rental period is initially twenty years.

“In the coming year we will be taking big and important steps with the new European distribution center for Levi Strauss & Co.,” explained Edwin Meijerink, Managing Director of Delta Projektentwicklung und Management GmbH, in a statement. “The building permit is just the starting signal.”

According to the company, the “innovative large-scale project” follows a cradle-to-cradle approach. “This describes a circular construction method that is based on the principles of recycling, resource conservation and waste reduction and aims to make the ecological footprint as positive as possible,” explained the project developer.
