«Sthe. I’ve been there too.” Thus begins the story of Levant about a part of his life kept hidden for a long time. In a long interview given to Vanity Fairhe said he had experienced a sick love. Unveiling the ex’s blackmail, jealousy and threats.

The magical summer of Levante, on tour around Italy. With more charge than before

Levante: the jealousy of the ex-boyfriend

It all started about ten years ago when the singer-songwriter became “infatuated with a man. He was immediately very jealous. He checked me: “Where are you? Why don’t you answer me?”».

Explaining, without mincing words, that this was a sick relationship in which she felt the need to explain herself to him. Although some of her missed calls were simply due to her falling asleep on the couch. Then everything changes. «I realized pretty quickly that I wasn’t in love and I told him so». His reaction? «Not being able to have me anymore, he lost his temper».

Levante and his ex’s blackmail

In fact, the situation worsens just when the singer confides her feelings to her ex: she doesn’t love him, she wants to end that relationship. But he doesn’t give up: «He tried to blackmail me: he had videos of us, private files. He called me constantly: “I’m sick”, he begged me, and so I spent hours on the phone trying to calm him down.» he tells Vanity Fair.

From threats to stalking

But Levante’s attempts are not enough. His ex continues to insist. «He wrote me 980 emails in the space of a month, which is about 30 every day» he reveals. A stalker’s attitude, which scared her, her family and her friends.

Like Giulia Cecchettin

Telling her story, the singer compares herself to Giulia Cecchettin, the student killed in November 2023 by her ex-boyfriend. «I didn’t think he would hurt me, I was more afraid for him, as he told his sister Giulia Cecchettin“, He says. Their stories, however, had a different ending: Giulia is no longer there, Levante, however, can still tell what happened to her. And she does it without hiding her state of mind and the shame she felt when she didn’t know how to handle the situation.

Shame and denunciation

«Above all, I felt ashamed, a lot of shame“, continues. «I felt stupid: I didn’t know how to handle the situation which had been going on for a couple of months. Until a lawyer friend advised me to report it.”

The complaint wasn’t easy either. But it was fundamental because they prohibited the man from approaching her and today she forgave him. And to those who ask her why he decided to telling everything after years he replies: «Who loves to talk about their failures? For a long time I perceived that experience as sucha mistake that also brought pain to other people.”
