Leonie ter Braak arouses pity among the men of Today Inside now that RTL 4 has left her with the balloon program Blow Up. “That poor girl ended up in the rain from the rain.”
Leonie ter Braak’s TV career is not getting off the ground. After a few unsuccessful years at Talpa, she has now switched to RTL 4. The first program she will present for the channel? Blow Up, a hand-me-down from Chantal Janzen. Candidates compete against each other for who can blow balloons the best.
Poor girl
Johan Derksen thinks it’s sad, he says Inside today. “That poor girl… A very nice girl, by the way. Don’t say anything bad about her, but she wanted to leave us to have some more substantive programs. Well, that’s okay, isn’t it? I have always strived for that, but I never succeeded.”
He continues: “Then she goes to RTL and then she can do Blow Up, where grown people make a dog with balloons. Then I think: well, then you came out of the rain, didn’t you? I would thank you for that.”
‘Go away’
Colleague René van der Gijp would never have agreed to this. “If you are told that… Of course you have just signed a contract, but if you are told that: ‘Dude, you know, are you going to do that balloon program where people make nice dogs out of a balloon’, then of course you would dearest say: ‘Joh, just relax.’”
René can do things like that, but Leonie can be happy that she still has shelter at the Media Park. She doesn’t have that status. It’s not that easy to say no.”
Big girl
John disagrees. “I read in the newspaper that she is 41 or 42. Then you are a big girl. Then you say to that director: ‘Go blow up some balloons yourself and blow a dog out of them.’”
Table guest Job Knoester thinks the same way. “Why isn’t that so easy? Can’t you say no? ‘I do not want that’?”
The second program that Leonie will make for RTL 4 is Voor Same Money. In it she replaces Natasja Froger, who has lost her contract.
