Leon Goretzka has partially qualified his harsh criticism of the media coverage of FC Bayern after the Bundesliga game against Hertha BSC (2-0) on Sunday.
“My statement after the game was undifferentiated in form and not correct. Emotion and anger after the game grab me too,” Goretzka told “Bild” on Monday.
Following the work victory against Hertha BSC, Goretzka had declared that the FC Bayern pros would be “completely destroyed by the media”. The national player did not refer this primarily to himself, but emphasized that teammates were “more in the fire” and had to “take a lot”.
Nevertheless, Goretzka described it as a “task” for himself and his teammates to respond to the criticism on the pitch – “whether justified or not – it doesn’t matter”.
Goretzka is now hoping for fewer swings in the assessment of FC Bayern’s performance. “It would be nice if we exaggerated a little less with everything – positively and negatively,” said the 28-year-old, who has been in form for weeks.
FC Bayern: Leon Goretzka continues to be in low form
The former player from Bochum and Schalke also disappointed against Hertha BSC. Already in the first half he saw a yellow card. At the break, Goretzka was replaced by coach Thomas Tuchel.
From sport.de he received a grade of 5.0 for his performance. “He remains a problem child in Munich,” says the individual review.
His neighbor Joshua Kimmich, on the other hand, was one of Bayern’s strongest players against Hertha BSC and received the sport.de-Grade 2.0.
“I’m firmly convinced that we’ll be German champions,” said Bayern Munich’s leading player afterwards – and hit a completely different horn than teammate Goretzka.
