Léon Bergsma is going to work in the Eredivisie. The former player of Ajax and AZ returns from his Swiss adventure at FC Aarau. The 25-year-old central defender from Amsterdam signs a three-year contract with SC Cambuur.
Bergsma went through Ajax’s youth academy. In 2018, the central defender became champion of the first division with the team from Amsterdam. Bergsma wore the captain’s armband in the team of trainer Michael Reiziger that season. After that successful season, AZ picked him up, where he mainly played his matches in Jong AZ. He has been active at FC Aarau since 2020.
Technical manager Foeke Booy is pleased with Bergsma’s arrival: “Central defenders who are comfortable with the ball and who also naturally assume a leadership role in the field are scarce and Leon is certainly one of those types. suits us and the club in general and we are therefore happy that he has chosen to move to Leeuwarden.”
