Leon Annokkee succeeds Pieter de Waard as general manager at Telstar

Leon Annokkee, 49, is Telstar’s new general manager. He succeeds Pieter de Waard, who stops at the club from Velsen-Zuid after seventeen years. Annokkee has been the chairman of second divisionist FC Lisse since 2015, where he will stop after this season.

“When the opportunity came up to work full-time in football at a club from an environment that matches well with the Bollenstreek, I took the plunge and expressed my interest. I will start on July 1 and I look forward to meeting and collaborating with all sections involved in Telstar and its environment,” Annokkée said.

Successor De Waard

Annokkee succeeds the eccentric Pieter de Waard. The departing director often managed to make the news with Telstar through original actions. For example, he wanted Telstar to play football on blue grass and last week he cycled to his last away match against MVV from Velsen-Zuid. The Haarlemmer also often kept his hand on his purse and he ensured that Telstar remained financially healthy.

“I have big shoes waiting to fill. It’s great how Pieter de Waard has put Telstar on the map in all those years. I previously indicated that I would stop at FC Lisse after 8 years of presidency after this season. The presidency is wonderful to do, to pursue a common goal together, where the club is a bonding agent in society, where everyone feels at home and where achievements go hand in hand.

The club also announces that the management is temporarily strengthened with Bart Appelman. Appelman will take over the duties of departing commercial director Natascha van Grinsven-Admiraal on an interim basis.
