Lenny Kuhr will still be on TV with De Troubadour, but in the rerun

It is again cake and egg between former Eurovision winner Lenny Kuhr, broadcaster AVROTROS and production company PilotStudio. If the TV registration of Het Grote Eurovisionfeest is broadcast in a repeat, Kuhr’s performance will be included. The three parties agreed on this on Thursday afternoon. Earlier in the day, the singer was still angry because her contribution was cut out before the broadcast without any notice.

“AVROTROS and PilotStudio have promised us that the next time it will be on TV in the Netherlands, the Troubadour will be included. In any case, in the week of the Eurovision song contest. Thanks to everyone who supported me. The troubadour is alive!”, Lenny Kuhr tweets.

The singer performed in November at the Grote Songfestivalfeest 2022 in Amsterdam’s Ziggo Dome, where Duncan Laurence and Norwegian violinist Alexander Rybak also performed, among others. TV recordings were made of that show that could be seen on January 4. To her own surprise, Kuhr was missing from that broadcast. “Disrespectful,” she said.

“The roof went off at the Troubadour.”

“It was made very important in advance by AVROTROS that I had to be present at the concert,” says the singer. “As Eurovision winner, I could certainly not be missing from all other Eurovision winners. I had a very nice performance. The roof went off at the Troubadour. The audience was very enthusiastic, but I was put under pressure beforehand to show up. That makes It’s a bit sour that I can’t be seen then,” she told Omroep Brabant on Thursday morning. She said she no longer wanted to perform at the party.

“They make up excuses.”

The broadcaster told Kuhr that the production company was responsible for the choice. A spokesman for the broadcaster told the ANP a different version, namely that Lenny Kuhr has been seen more often in their Eurovision song broadcast in the past and that it was better for a change that other artists would be featured this time.

Her fans thought the whole situation was an embarrassment. Eurovision connoisseur Tom van den Oetelaar: “She should have been seen, the only winner from the sixties. People at the production company and the broadcaster just didn’t pay attention and now they make excuses. There were mainly acts from recent years in it , Lenny should have been there just for the change.”

Meanwhile, peace has been signed. Why she was now missing from the broadcast remains unclear. And it is not known whether she will participate again next time. Lenny Kuhr could not be reached for comment on Thursday evening.
