Lena Oberdorf extends contract with VfL Wolfsburg

National soccer player Lena Oberdorf has prematurely extended her contract with German champions VfL Wolfsburg until June 30, 2025. The Bundesliga team announced this on Thursday, one day before the German national team’s first European Championship game against Denmark.

“It’s almost unbelievable how far Lena has come at just 20 years old – as an almost complete footballer on the field and also as a leader who takes responsibility, never takes it easy on herself and always leads the way,” said Wolfsburg’s sporting director Ralf Kellermann midfielder. “Lena would be an absolute asset for any team in the world. We are therefore very proud that she is clearly committed to VfL Wolfsburg with this early contract extension.”

Oberdorf switched from SGS Essen to the best German women’s team in 2020. “Even though we won two titles last season, we’re still a long way from reaching our maximum. I really enjoy working with this team and with this coaching team,” she said after signing the contract.
