Lena Oberdorf celebrates “Beast” Alexandra Popp

Alexandra Popp was the guarantor of victory against France with her brace. She thanked her teammates, who in turn raved about their captain.

Pure joy among the German soccer women after reaching the final of the European Championship in England. The DFB-Elf beat France 2-1. The heroine of the evening was captain Alexandra Popp, who scored both goals. At the age of 31, after numerous injuries, it is her first ever participation in the European Championship – in which she has so far excelled with six goals.

Lena Oberdorf, at 20 the youngest in the team and again one of the best players on the field, celebrated her captain not only for her goals but also for her commitment: “Poppi – outstandingly beheaded again. Just a beast in there. That is just what we need from her.”

Popp: “Nobody expected us”

Popp from Wolfsburg had previously thanked her teammates: “To be honest, I can’t even put it into words. We played a crazy game again,” said Popp on ZDF Do the math and we’re up to 90,000 against England in the final – honestly, there’s nothing better.” The team, “honestly, they’re great,” said Popp after being named the best player of the game. With such “anticipation, such a desire for a final – there is nothing better”.
