Singer Lena Meyer-Landrut struggled with the teaching methods as a student.

“I found the system corrosive at the time and boycotted it internally,” said Meyer-Landrut of the German Press Agency. “I only went through school because I had to and wanted to graduate. Because I knew that was part of it.” The 31-year-old grew up in Hanover.

Even today, she doesn’t find much to gain from the state school system, which places little emphasis on individuality. It is worthwhile to think about possible changes. “This is our next generation. It’s really important that she’s prepared as well as possible for what’s going on in the world. That life and learning is fun, passions are developed and just satisfaction is created.”

The pop musician (“Strip”, “Better”) can be seen from this Friday (8:15 p.m.) as a coach on the Sat.1 music show “The Voice Kids”. There, the Berliner looks after young musical talents between the ages of 8 and 15.
