Xavi Simons is on loan from Paris Saint-Germain to RB Leipzig until the end of the season. What will happen next for the Dutchman is still completely unclear. FC Bayern is apparently throwing its hat into the ring.
According to transfer expert Ekrem Konur, FC Bayern is closely monitoring Simons’ situation. Arsenal FC and Manchester United would also take a closer look at the 20-year-old attacker.
Simons’ contract with PSG runs until 2027. Most recently it was said that the French capital club would only become weak for the winger if offers were over 100 million euros. It is at least doubtful that FC Bayern is prepared to make such an investment.
“Sport Bild” also recently brought a scenario into play that is likely to be welcomed, at least in Leipzig. The sports magazine claims to have learned that an extension of the loan to the Saxons for another season is “probable”. The first discussions are said to have already taken place and a kind of “preliminary agreement” has even been made.
However, PSG letting its jewel go completely should not be an option.
That’s what Schröder says about Simons’ future
RB sports director Rouven Schröder recently spoke to “Bild” about the rumors about Simons. “I think it’s good to show a certain level of calm and be happy with what we have right now. He fits us perfectly, is a top player and is also worth gold for our image. He gives that A huge push for the Leipzig location,” emphasized the 48-year-old.
Schröder added: “Xavi identifies with us and lives it all completely. We simply enjoy the fact that he is here now. We have done everything internally to ensure that he comes. We have to succeed in doing that again.”
This season, Simons scored six goals and prepared nine more goals in 25 competitive games.
