RB Leipzig’s sporting director Max Eberl was again disparaged on Saturday evening during the Bundesliga game against 1. FC Union Berlin because of his burnout.
In the 66th minute of the football game, three banners with insults against the 49-year-old were shown in the guest block. In the previous week, Eberl had been insulted in a similar way during the Saxony game at 1. FC Köln.
Union Berlin coach Urs Fischer has apologized for the insulting banners against RB Leipzig’s sports director Max Eberl.
“I haven’t read it, haven’t seen it, but it was communicated to me. That doesn’t work at all, I have no respect for people. I can not comprehend that. I’m sorry,” said Fischer after the 2-1 draw in Leipzig on Saturday evening.
Eberl resigned from Borussia Mönchengladbach in January 2022 for health reasons. He then spoke openly about his illness and switched to RB Leipzig on December 1st.
The move to the Saxons had been heavily criticized in fan circles because of the rejection of the RB business model.
