After a report of a suspicious person with a weapon in a train at Leiden Central station, the police arrested one person. The platforms were emptied as a precaution. No weapon was found on the suspect.
According to regional media, many police officers were present at the station. According to Broadcasting West an arrest team was present at a train on one of the platforms. A police helicopter was also hovering over the station.
Train traffic around Leiden was stopped during the police action, but the trains started running again around 9 p.m., a spokesperson for the NS reported. The trains that were on their way to Leiden were stopped, but can now continue.
