Leicester City sign Ricardo Pereira for the long term: ‘Win-win situation’

Came in 2018 for €22m

Leicester City has created long-term planning security on the right defensive side and extended the contract with Ricardo Pereira prematurely. The Portuguese signed a new deal on Friday until June 30, 2026.

“I would say that overtime is the natural course of things. I’m happy here, I think the club is happy too. It’s a win-win situation. Playing in the Premier League at a club like Leicester was something that seemed far, far away when I was growing up. Now I have to enjoy the moment and the present and continue to do what is best for the club and for me,” said the right footer about his contract extension.

Pereira moved from FC Porto to the Premier League in the summer of 2018 for 22 million euros, making it one of Leicester’s ten most expensive purchases to date. Since then, the seven-time international has made 103 appearances (seven goals, 13 assists) for the Foxes. In the current season he has only made 14 appearances due to a hamstring injury. In his comeback last weekend against West Ham United (2-2) Pereira scored to make it 2-1.
