Adam Kszczot deserves a gut punch for trying until the end.
Multiple 800 meters medalist Adam Kszczot fought himself to the finish line of the New York City Marathon in a fine time of 2 hours 50 minutes 9 seconds.
The time of the first marathon of his career is put into an even tougher perspective when you watch the video of the Pole’s painful finish.
Kszczot completely zipped just twenty meters before the finish line. His legs ran out of steam and the Pole fell to his knees on the asphalt.
After that, the spirit of the marathon was at its best, when two fellow competitors stopped to help Kszczot. They stopped their own runs, helping the Pole to his feet and moving.
Kszczot, who finished his racing career last year, was hard at work in two laps of the track. During a handsome career, three European Championship golds and two World Championship silvers entered the trophy case.
A former NHL player also participated in the New York marathon Zdeno Chara. Slovakianjärkäle finished the route in 3:19.19. A couple of weeks ago the clock stopped at 3:16.26.
