Legambiente: Let’s clean the world, waste collection weekend

Pplastic, but also cigarette butts, disposable products and packaging. Legambiente has cataloged 27,051 pieces of waste, collected in 57 urban parks and near 7 rivers throughout Italy. In green areas there is an average of 3 waste per square meter, on the banks of waterways an average of 326 waste per 100 linear metres.

Are we increasingly aware of the importance of protecting the environment? Yet these wastes exist. Because of this, 30 years after the first edition, still worth it participate in Let’s Clean the World, and perhaps today more than ever.

The Legambiente initiative returns this weekend: there will be tre days of environmental volunteeringon 22, 23 and 24 September 2023, with many appointments along the peninsula to clean up streets, squares, urban parks, beaches and river banks from neglect and abandonment.

The slogan of this year’s edition is: “For a climate of peace”. A clear message that expresses the desire to return cleaner, welcoming and inclusive places to communities. To get to know gFor appointments closer to home there is the site www.puliamoilmondo.it.

30 years of “Let’s Clean the World”

Let’s Clean the World is promoted by Legambiente in collaboration with Rai. And it is the Italian edition of Clean Up the World, the largest environmental volunteering event in the world. With this initiative, parks, gardens, streets, squares, rivers and beaches in many cities around the world are freed from waste.

Brought to Italy in 1993 by Legambiente, which assumed the role of organizing committee, it is present throughout the national territory thanks to the tireless work of over 1,000 groups of “environmental volunteers” who organize the initiative at local level in collaboration with associations, companies, committees and city administrations.
