The futsal players of Leekster Eagles / Amysoft took an important step towards preservation in the Eredivisie on Friday.
The men of head coach Bas Lulofs won 1-3 at RKAV Volendam and thus remain at the top of the relegation group. ,,We can look upwards again”, said Lulofs.
Teams evenly matched
Both teams were evenly matched in the first half. Leekster Eagles, which took office without the injured Luciano Matulessy, often made the game. The home team regularly came out dangerous through quick counters.
After more than fifteen minutes of play, in which few significant moments took place, Leeksters Getuar Derguti and Stan van der Wal suddenly appeared in front of the Volendam keeper. They played this so carelessly that rescue could be brought about. Not much later, the Eagles got away well when RKAV hit the crossbar from close range. With a 0-0 score, the dressing room was visited.
The rest did the Leeksters good. Almost immediately after the restart, Yoshua St. Juste shot hard into the 0-1 from a difficult angle. The visitors got away well when the home team hit the post immediately after the opening goal. Five minutes later it was Fabio de Matos Fernandes who put the 0-2 on the scoreboard for the Eagles from a rebound.
Hectic final phase
A few minutes before the end, RKAV came back to 1-2, which seemed to usher in a hectic final phase. And it got hectic. Leekster Eagles were pushed back partly because the home team tried to force the equalizer with the use of a flying keeper. The flying keeper was not allowed to stay on the field for long. After losing the ball, he decided to stop the ball in midfield with his hands. The ref had no choice but to send him away. As a result, the Leeksters no longer got into trouble. Stan van der Wal even managed to make it 1-3 just before time.
Trainer Bas Lulofs was naturally happy with the win afterwards. ,,RKAV Volendam is a good team with an excellent trainer. We had the better of the game, but they play smart on the counter. I think we win this match partly because we have a wide selection so that we can alternate well.”
