Despite interest from Leeds United, Arne Slot remains with Feyenoord. ,,The clubs have been in contact”, said the trainer this afternoon at his press conference on the way to Sunday’s game at SC Heerenveen. “But it is certain that I will stay with Feyenoord.”
There is no reason for Slot to leave Rotterdam now. “It’s a combination of things,” he says. ,,The club has said that they would like me to stay and I would like to stay myself. We are doing something great with him. We are at the top of the league, we are through in the cup and we are also playing in Europe. There is a lot to look forward to with great enthusiasm in the coming period.”
Slot says he is flattered by the interest. “It is a compliment that such a club from the Premier League is interested in you. However, there is no disappointment with me.”
Slot (44) is working on his second season in De Kuip. Last season he reached the final of the Conference League with Feyenoord, an achievement that was already noticed by clubs from larger leagues than the premier league.
Leeds United are looking for a new manager after the sacking of Jesse Marsch. The American was fired this week because of the disappointing results. The club of former Feyenoord player Luis Sinisterra and the Dutchmen Crysencio Summerville and Pascal Struijk is sixteenth in the Premier League.
