Lee Towers’ performance with Renze criticized in VI: ‘He’s so bad!’

Poor Lee Towers. Then Renze Klamer gives you a stage to sing your classic You’ll Never Walk Alone, and then you are finally criticized in Today Inside. “It’s really that bad.”

Renze Klamer had an item on Sunday evening in his talk show on RTL 4 about the song You’ll Never Walk Alone, because it has been around for x number of years. In honor of that anniversary, Lee Towers was allowed to sing that hit at the end of the episode, but according to the men of VI it was not worth listening to. They are now completely bashing him.

To destroy

It’s starting to get really sad, says Johan Derksen Today Inside. “I was annoyed all evening. Lee was there. Then I think: I hope you don’t sing it, but then he does.”

He continues: “You know what the point is? Lee Towers was a very good crooner by Dutch standards. He has done nice things. He never had the soul of Bill Medley or anything, but he could croon a bit and that was a pretty good song, but you have a lot of old singers who can’t make it anymore.”

Moaning Lee

Johan doesn’t like listening to it. “He moans a few sentences completely out of tune and then he puts the microphone like that and the audience fills in, but he now sat down and did it live and really: it didn’t make any sense.”

The people around Lee must protect him from themselves, the football expert believes. “I think he is a very nice guy, I like Leen very much, I mean well with him, but he should not do it anymore, because it is a bad performance and people laugh at him for it. It is no longer possible.”

Laughing at you

René van der Gijp starts laughing uncontrollably when the fragment with Lee starts. “At the table too, I saw. People were laughing!”

Johan: “Who is Lee Towers now? I think he is a very nice man and that is why I find it so painful that he does things like this. I want to remember him like he did in his heyday, when he turned a room upside down.”
