It is a horror for 77-year-old Lee Towers that the men of Today Inside are always so unkind to him. The singer of You’ll Never Walk Alone performed in Renze Klamer’s talk show a few weeks ago and was then completely trashed by the VI trio. They thought he sang terribly badly. “It’s really that bad.”

Disrespectful

Those kinds of unkind statements from Johan Derksen and René van der Gijp are not exactly well received by Lee. It bothers him very much and he shows this in front of the camera Show news. “I didn’t understand that.”

Lee may sing out of tune, but the men of VI are out of tune, he thinks. “First of all, I find something extremely disrespectful that those men… But they have a kind of patent on that, you know. Bullying, that’s their patent. Whoever it is, they show little respect, even for other people.”

Raking in money

And all for some money, Lee fumes. According to him, earning by humiliating is VI’s trademark. “But hey, if they can rake in John de Mol’s millions with that… They don’t spare each other either, do they? That’s just their revenue model.”

He concludes: “That is sometimes difficult, but I don’t lose sleep over it. What makes me happy is that I am here again tonight and that people are completely happy when you are here. That they are so enthusiastic.”
