An incredible downer for Leco van Zadelhoff: his program The Interior Project VIPS started with poor viewing figures on RTL 4 last night. “This is an incredible havoc.”
The Interior Project VIPS, a program in which celebrities are given the assignment every week to refurbish a room and furnish it stylishly, is not a success. The program by Leco van Zadelhoff and Edson da Graça started on RTL 4 at half past eight yesterday evening with only 408 thousand viewers (8 percent market share).
“Havoc!”
It is especially painful for Leco, because he is not only a presenter and judge, but also the creator of this TV idea. And with this score he does not even manage to conquer a place in the daily viewing figures top 25. A small consolation: SBS 6 also scored disappointingly at the same time with the new Mitchel aan de Maas (366 thousand and 8 percent).
Viewing figure connoisseur Tina Nijkamp: “An incredible viewing figure havoc. What a huge viewing figure blow for both RTL 4 and SBS 6 with their new primetime programs. They are NOT in the top 25. Incredibly few viewers. And it is the first time that new, much promoted TV shows on RTL 4 and SBS 6 have been viewed so poorly.”
‘Isn’t going well’
Tina fears for Leco that the ratings will not improve. “This must be an incredible disappointment for him. Will this be ok next week? I am afraid not. Housing programs score particularly well when it comes to ‘real’ homes and not about offices or, like yesterday, holiday homes.”
She continues: “As a viewer, you miss the emotion/bond that a resident has with his home. The program also misses a target.”
Unclear
According to Tina, the format is too unclear. “What is the purpose of the program? In other words: what can the celebrity gain if you become the winner of this programme? The honor? Not made clear. At Het Perfecte Plaatje you really learn a new trade, not really here.”
It is also very similar to the former TV show Sterren Houden Huis, says Tina. Two candidates from this program also participated: Euvgenia Parakhina and Ruth Jacott. “It also takes some getting used to seeing Leco in a different role. After all, for the viewer he is a make-up expert.”
