Leaving in summer 2024? Bayern’s Davies top candidate at Real

Quote from Haehnchen81

I think that Bayern actually need more “defensive” defenders. Guys like that who hardly make any mistakes at the back and first and foremost think about not leaving any huge holes in the back just so they can put themselves in the spotlight at the front.

Offensive wins games, defensive wins titles. Too often the full-backs, especially Davies and the 6s especially Kimmich, are “in front” with their heads and completely forget what happens when the opponent wins or has the ball. You might need a player who strengthens the offense, especially from the back, but nothing more. And especially on the 6 you actually only have guys like that, although Goretzka isn’t quite as wild as Kimmich and then Davies too? You regularly get yourself into trouble. In addition, Davies too often believes he is the fastest on the pitch and that he can easily catch up with opponents who have a 10 meter lead. But this is not the case. Real, on the other hand, has a central midfield that is concerned with the question of how to disrupt the opponent’s game before thinking about their own offensive. Offensive-minded full-backs are definitely of use and Real has traditionally played with exactly such full-backs for decades.

World-class full-backs who are particularly strong defensively can usually also do something offensively when they are not challenged at the back. Players like Davies are quickly overwhelmed when there is pressure at the back. If you can get a big transfer fee and Davies is interested, you should see if you can sell him and get an AV who is particularly strong defensively. The offensive is currently the best Bayern have had in many years. Kane and Sané in particular harmonize so well. Plus Musiala, Gnabry, Müller and Coman. Gnabry is falling off a bit at the moment, but nevertheless it is so strong that it is hardly necessary for Davies to mainly mess around with the opposing 16s.

Of course you have to see what the market has to offer, great full-backs, especially on the left, don’t grow on trees either.

I only read part of your post and stopped at the part about defensive etc. Davis turned to offensive. Madrid needs exactly such a player. If you have watched the games this season you can see how high the AV is. Since you play with a diamond, the width is missing. Mendy has a bench defensively and unfortunately there is something missing up front. Unfortunately, Garcia is missing a little bit of both. Dani is doing it really well this season. A Davis on the left would fit Vini perfectly. Collectively, this would all fit in very well. See Marcelo, similar to Davis.
