Leading role for Brian Brobbey: ‘If you score twice in a row, the trainer won’t just take you out’ | Dutch football

Brian Brobbey played a leading role tonight in Ajax’s easy victory over RKC Waalwijk (1-4). The striker paid back the confidence of coach Alfred Schreuder by scoring twice.

The striker thus had a perfect evening. ,,We won today and I was important with two goals, right?” Brobbey reacted afterwards in front of the camera of ESPN. Brobbey had to make do with a reserve role for a long time, but now seems to have conquered his place. “If you score twice for two weeks in a row, I don’t think the coach will just take you out.”

Brobbey has been able to provide excellent figures since he made his debut in the main force. The striker needs an average of only 64 minutes to score. ,,That’s nice to see and hear, there are only goals added. Let me play my game first and be important with goals,” said the striker.

The attacker is part of the large pre-selection of the Dutch national team and can therefore hope for a place in the final group for the world championship in Qatar. Brobbey mainly seems to have to compete with Vincent Janssen, who has been playing for Antwerp FC since this summer. “If I keep doing my best, I hope to be there.”

‘Beautiful how he scores his goals’

Schreuder was certainly pleased with the second half that Ajax put down against RKC, and also had praise for Brobbey. ,,He did well, you can see that he has a lot of threat,” said the Ajax coach. ,,He could have gotten a few balls in the first half, but he didn’t get them.”

Schreuder was also very pleased with the fact that Brobbey also handles his defensive duties well. ,,He gives a lot of energy to the team, and it is of course wonderful how he is now scoring his goals again. Tactically he can get much better, but it’s nice to see that he is doing well.”

Blind off, not difficult, yellow card, not good in the game.

After the opening goal of Steven Berghuis, Ajax thought that the home team would no longer have any children, but shortly before half-time they managed to score the equalizer via Pelle Clement. However, two goals from Brian Brobbey and another goal from Berghuis gave Ajax a resounding victory in Waalwijk. Ajax is therefore four points apart from number two PSV. The team from Eindhoven will play against FC Groningen tomorrow at 2.30 pm.
