Leader HHC too strong for Royal HFC and OFC gives up the lead

A bad turn for the North Holland teams from the second division today. Koninklijke HFC and OFC both lost 2-1 to HHC Hardenberg and VV Noordwijk respectively. AFC and Jong FC Volendam will play against each other tomorrow.

HHC – Royal HFC 2-1

45′ Rob van der Leij 1-0
62′ Sietse Brandsma 1-1
70′ Serginho Fatima 2-1

Leader HHC started sharper and pushed for the opening phase. Rob van der Leij and Matthijs Hardijk missed a great opportunity. Hardijk had another shot chance a minute later, once again keeper Thomas Hoekstra was the spoilsport. Both teams seemed to be looking for the changing rooms with 0-0, but Van der Leij thought otherwise. He was free in front of HFC’s goal and shot in: 1-0.

Sietse Brandsma scored in the 62e minute equalizer. He shot low from a low cross from John Hilton: 1-1. The tie could not be maintained, because defender Serginho Fatima headed home from a corner: 2-1. The Haarlem-squad didn’t give up and launched a final offensive. This led to a huge opportunity for Brandsma (header) and Zakaria Eddahchouri (on the post). Moments later, even a ball was taken off the line, but it made no difference in the outcome.

HFC is in tenth place with fifteen points due to the defeat, while HHC takes over the lead in the second division. The team from Haarlem will play against champion Katwijk next week.

OFC – VV Noordwijk 1-2

67′ Darryl Baly 1-0
71′ Emiel Wendt 1-1
86′ Emiel Wendt 1-2

It took a while before a score was scored in the game between OFC and VV Noordwijk. The visitors seemed to take the lead, but this goal was disallowed due to a handball. Toer Bouwman headed with a bouncing ball full on the crossbar. However, it was the OFC that made it 1-0. Defender Darryl Baly shot from a distance.

This could not be enjoyed for a long time, because Emiel Wendt quickly equalized: 1-1. The party for the Noordwijkers was complete when the striker scored his second of the afternoon: 1-2. Via Moatasim El Yaakoubi the ball ended up on the crossbar, after which Wendt tapped in the rebound.

Due to the defeat of OFC, the Oostzaners remain last in the second division. The team of Pieter Mulders will play against the club of the same name in Scheveningen next week. The North Holland derby between AFC and Jong FC Volendam will be played tomorrow. Kick-off is 3 p.m. at Sportpark Goed Enough.
