Leader AFC extends with trainer Benno Nihom

Benno Nihom will continue as trainer of AFC Amsterdam for longer. The football club that plays in the second division has extended the contract of the 35-year-old coach by one year.

“Given the good results and the pleasant cooperation, it has been agreed to extend his contract by one year,” said Brian Speelman, chairman of AFC, on the website of the club. “We also find this very important for continuity.”

AFC is currently leading the second division. After a difficult start, the Amsterdammers have worked their way up to first place. “We will continue to build on the selection in the coming weeks and months,” says Nihom. “I am very happy with the extension, there is a lot of confidence. As a child of the club I am very proud of this wonderful challenge.”

Nihom has been at the helm of AFC since last summer. He previously worked at Ajax Women with which he became national champion in 2018. He took over the duties of Uli Landvruegd who is a full-time employee of Telstar. AFC’s next competition match is against Scheveningen on 12 November.
