At the end of the European Track Cycling Championships, Lea Sophie Friedrich won the Keirin sprint title for the fourth time in a row.

The 24-year-old won the final of the top six on Sunday (January 14, 2024) in Apeldoorn ahead of the British European sprint champion Emma Finucane and Hetty van de Wouw from the Netherlands.

Hinze misses the final

For Friedrich, after gold in the team sprint and silver in the sprint, it was her third medal in the title fights in the Netherlands, making her one of the big favorites for the Olympic Games in Paris.

The eight-time world champion Emma Hinze, on the other hand, missed the final and came seventh.

Brauße takes bronze in the Pursuit of one

Franziska Brauße from Eningen secured another medal on the final day, missing her third European championship title in the 3000 meter individual pursuit by three thousandths of a second.

The 2019 and 2023 European champion lost to Josie Knight from Great Britain (3:22.816) on Sunday in a repeat of last year’s final. Brauße, 2022 world champion, was clearly in the lead until 2000 meters and lost the title on the last half lap. Mieke Kröger from Bielefeld, European champion in the single pursuit in 2022, took ninth place (3:37.556).
