Kobetas welcomes groups like Placebo, Zahara or Genevas again

Music has resounded on Mount Kobetas after years of silence due to the pandemic in a Bilbao BBK Live who has counted in the first of his three days with LCD Soundsystem, which has captivated the public of the festival with its musical proposal. Those attending this first day of the festival have also enjoyed Placebo, who is on tour with his recent album “Never let me go”, the Andalusian singer Zahara, the female band Ginebras and the American singer-songwriter Phoebe Bridgers, among other artists.

LCD Soundsystem has offered at Bilbao BBK Live the only performance scheduled for a European festival in which it has performed some of the most outstanding pieces of its repertoire with which they have made the thousands of people who have crowded in front of the stage dance major. With James Murphy at the helm, the Americans have displayed the full force of their unmistakable proposal tonight, in which they combine the energy of punk with funk and disco and which they have been successfully putting on stage for two decades, to spread the rhythm to the public. And it hasn’t been difficult to get carried away from the very beginning of the performance, in which they have chained ‘Get Innocuous!’, ‘I can change’ and an energetic ‘Daft Punk is playing at my house’, which they have extended throughout and width of the enclosure a resounding sound mantle. They have continued to waste energy with ‘You wanted a hit’, ‘Tonite’ and with the powerful ‘Tribulations’ while the attendees enjoyed the evening, some dancing, others simply listening to the New York group that has left no space to catch their breath. For the final part, James Murphy and his crew have saved, among others, ‘Losing my edge’, ‘Home’, ‘New York, I love you but you’re bringing me down’ and ‘Dance yrself clean’, which have increased the energy even more, and, to round it off, ‘All my friends’ to give a dazzling close to their time at Bilbao BBK Live.

The performance of Placebo, just before LCD Soundsystem on the second stage, has been another highlight on this first day of the festival thanks to the energy and professionalism displayed by the British group that has pleased the public that has followed the concert. The band led by Brian Molko is on tour to present their recent album ‘Never let me go’, which featured at the beginning of the performance, with the songs ‘Forever Chemicals’ and ‘Beautiful James’. The new songs have shone alongside the band’s classics, such as ‘For what it’s worth’, one of the most sung by their followers, ‘Too many friends’, ‘The bitter end’ or ‘Infra-red’ , in the final part of a performance that the British have closed with their version of the magnificent ‘Running up that hill’ by Kate Bush.

Andalusian singer Zahara has uploaded her songs of pop melodies wrapped in synthesizers to the main stage of the festival, where the singer-songwriter has shone at sunset with songs like ‘Taylor’, ‘Merichane’, ‘The beast has dinner at home’ and ‘Berlin U5’, with which has completed a performance to remember. It was a day with a prominent presence of women, including the American singer-songwriter Phoebe Bridgers who has reviewed, in a remarkable performance, some of the songs from his latest work, ‘Punisher’, such as the one that gives the album its title, ‘Chinese satellite’ or ‘Moon song’.

Those in charge of opening the main stage of the festival have been ginswith its casual pop of ironic lyrics made for fun and enjoyment, which have coincided with the Australian Stella Donnellywho has shown his unique voice and his ability to hook the public.

This Friday, on the second day of the festival, The Killers will perform, returning to Bilbao BBK Live after their 2017 concert before 40,000 spectators who packed the venue, Lori Meyers, Supergrass, Stromae, Bomba Estéreo and Inhaler, among others.
