LCD Soundsystem commemorates Angelo Badalamenti and Julee Cruise with “Twin Peaks” cover

On Tuesday evening (December 13), LCD Soundsystem played their version of the Twin Peaks track “Falling” (1990) in memory of composer Angelo Badalamenti, who died December 11, 2022, and singer Julee Cruise, who died June 9, 2022 .

The performance marked the 17th of their 20 shows during their “Brooklyn Steel Run,” which saw the band play 20 shows in a month at the Brooklyn location of the same name.

Badalamenti wrote the song in 1989, while Cruise sang it shortly after. LCD Soundsystem incorporated their own interpretation into the track “New York I Love You But You’re Bringing Me Down”. As they played the number, the LED background lit up in the familiar chevron pattern from the show’s “Red Room.” You can find our review of the “Twin Peaks” soundtrack here.

Back in 2013, at their “last” show at Madison Square Garden, the musicians mixed “New York I Love You But You’re Bringing Me Down” with “Jump Into The Fire”.
