Borussia Dortmund would like to give up numerous players in the summer. Among them is Nico Schulz. Most recently, the BVB left-back was linked with a move to Lazio Rome. But from Italy comes a more than clear denial.
Nico Schulz is one of several players who, if possible, should leave BVB in the current transfer period. But no buyer has yet been found for the defender, who was unable to assert himself in Dortmund.
The “Gazzetta dello Sport” recently reported that Lazio Rom is interested in the 29-year-old, who switched from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim to Borussia for more than 25 million euros three years ago. But apparently there is nothing to the speculation about a move to the Biancocelesti.
Compared to “Sport1”, Lazio sports director Igli Tare – himself a Bundesliga player for a long time (1995 to 2000 at Karlsruher SC, Fortuna Düsseldorf and 1. FC Kaiserslautern) – emphasized very clearly that the rumors are completely unfounded.
BVB is up in the air
“Nico Schulz is not on my wish list,” said the sporting director of the top Italian club, adding unequivocally: “We’ve never spoken to each other.”
The clear rejection of the club from Rome joins the reports of the last few days, according to which Dortmund are finding it difficult to get rid of their sales candidates.
As the “Ruhr Nachrichten” recently reported, BVB is still waiting for concrete offers for a trio. There are currently no offers from other clubs for Manuel Akanji, Schulz or Raphael Guerreiro.
Unlike Schulz, however, Guerreiro and Akanji’s contracts expire in the summer of 2023, while the 29-year-old is still committed until 2024. After all, with Akanji there seems to be light on the horizon.
Because no departures on the scale of Schulz and Co. have been finalized so far, the club is up in the air when looking for more newcomers. First, fresh funds for transfers and also the salaries of the stars mentioned must be released.
