Berlin knows many fusion cuisines, but no restaurant combines Israeli dishes with Asian touches as grandiosely as the Layla Berlin in Kreuzberg.

Star chef Meir Adoni (restaurants in Tel Aviv, New York, Barcelona) has also given his Berlin offshoot a few light dishes for the summer. And you’ve probably never eaten these combinations like this before!

He serves the classic watermelon with feta with a soy-sesame oil marinade and Thai basil (13 euros, photo). The sea tzatziki consists of sashimi, yuzu pannacotta, almonds, peach and finger lime (25 euros).

Do you have to know all the ingredients? nope! What does it taste like? Far and near, exotic and home at the same time.

Layla Berlin, Hallesche Strasse 10, Kreuzberg, Tue.–Sat. from 6 p.m., layla-restaurant com
