Lawyer: Ahmet G. stunned that he is ‘most wanted’ | Inland

On Tuesday, police raided several parts of the country in connection with a major investigation into large-scale drug trafficking and violence. Three men aged 30, 38 and 49 were arrested in four raids in Koudum, Purmerend, Meppel and Amsterdam. The police also seized a ton of cash, an expensive car and valuable watches. A fourth suspect, Ahmet G., was not found and subsequently spotted internationally by the police and the judiciary.

‘Client has informed me that he is not at all a fugitive and that he was never asked to contact the police for any suspicion whatsoever, whether or not through me. He is surprised, disappointed and irritated. Two weeks ago, the client was heard as a witness via a video link with Turkey by the commissioner in a pending appeal case, “says his lawyer Jan-Hein Kuijpers. He and Ahmet G. regret that they had to read through De Telegraaf that G. is a suspect in the case and has been placed on the international wanted list.

The National Prosecutor’s Office of the Public Prosecution Service says: “The Public Prosecution Service would consider it desirable if the lawyer turns to the Public Prosecution Service.”
