Tennis superstar Serena Williams skirted a seed in Friday’s draw for her much-anticipated singles comeback after a year out, starting with France’s Harmony Tan. The 40-year-old American had recently played doubles with Jabeur for her return and is aiming for her 24th victory in a Grand Slam tournament.
German duel between Otte and Gojowczyk
In the absence of the injured Alexander Zverev, there will be a German duel between number 32 seeded Oscar Otte and Peter Gojowczyk. Jan-Lennard Struff, who meets the Spanish youngster and sand specialist Carlos Alcaraz, faces the nominally biggest task of the 13 German tennis professionals in the main field.
