Utah Jazz’s Finnish player Lauri Markkanen has been named the NBA’s most improved player of the year.
Markkanen is the first player in Jazz’s club history to be awarded this award.
The winner of the award was chosen by a vote of one hundred basketball journalists. In the voting, the first choice received five points, the second three and the third one.
The 25-year-old Finn collected an overwhelming 430 points in the final voting results. The Oklahoma City Thunder came second in the vote Shai Gilgeous-Alexander got 289 points and the third-placed New York Knicks Jalen Brunson on the other hand, 91 points.
Markkanen’s average points rose from 14.8 points to 25.6 points in the season. Last season, among other things, he made NBA history by becoming the first player to make 100 dunks and 200 three-pointers in a season.
