Lauri Markkanen represented by the Utah Jazz suffered a second consecutive loss, when the Detroit Pistons claimed a 125-116 victory in their home cave.

Markkanen played a weak match compared to his autumn level. He scored 13 points, grabbed eight rebounds and had two assists.

At halftime of the match, the Finn still had around zero points.

Markkanen received harsh treatment on the field. In the decisive moments of the match, Detroit Jalen Duren elbowed him in the face as the two simultaneously jumped into the air.

You can watch a video of the situation from this link.

Duren’s stunt wasn’t even called a foul, and Utah players were furious. The verdict – or rather the lack of it – also surprised other people watching the match.

– If the judges are not going to check Duren’s elbow on video, we might as well give up video checks altogether, editor Raheem Palmer wrote on Twitter.

Supplier Eric Walden revealedwhat kind of explanation Utah coach Will Hardy had received about the situation from the jury.

– No one saw it, so the foul was not whistled. And if there is no fault, the situation cannot be checked on video, Hardy had said in amazement.
