NBA’s Utah Jazz’s Lauri Markkanen asked for permission to answer in Finnish at the press conference after the match.
PDO
Lauri Markkanen appeared at the press conference after the Bulls game wearing a suit jacket and a casual smile.
– It feels really good that the ball sometimes goes into the basket. It just doesn’t help if you don’t win. We have to do other things better – stay aggressive and try to get wins, Markkanen said in Finnish.
A Finnish journalist was present at the press conference, to whom Markkanen addressed his words. Jazz published a video of the answers in Finnish on Twitter. There were a lot of comments under the publication.
– I could listen to him speak in his own language all day, even though I don’t understand a word.
– Losing stinks in any language, commented another.
The Utah Jazz returned to their home arena after a couple of away games. The opponent was Markkanen’s former employer, the Chicago Bulls. The Jazz lost the match with a score of 107–114.
Markkanen played basketball in Härkä jersey for four seasons before moving to Cleveland, from where he moved to his current club.
In high spirits
Finland’s brightest basketball star performed well in the game and scored 32 points. The club, on the other hand, is not wiping well at the moment. The Jazz, who started the season very well, are on a losing streak of five games.
– Of course it’s nice to see friends and there’s always a little charge in that. You have to play hard in every game, however, Markkanen told his feelings about playing against his former club.
– It feels good to have Kotieleisö behind again. We have been traveling for a long time. It’s a bit strange to sleep in your own bed, Markkanen said.
The Jazz have a streak of five home games ahead of them. So Finns have time to become familiar with their own bed.
The next match is against the Los Angeles Clippers on the night between Tuesday and Wednesday.
