Lauri Lepistö is stopping the Tour de Ski. He qualified from the sprint stage of Val di Fiemme.
– Sad. Everything went bad. I have never skied so badly in a traditional sprint.
This was how the Finnish skier felt it Lauri Lepistö flogged himself after stage 5/7 of the Tour de Ski.
– There should be no health problems. Everyone was tested for the corona virus and looked at how they felt. But that kind of skiing leaves question marks.
The man from Jämin Jänte was in 39th place in the traditional sprint time trial. He missed Johannes from Kläbo about 13 seconds.
– I guess I have to go to myself and repeat how things have been going lately. Probably too much. During the Christmas break, I neglected to train too much. I don’t really see any other reason.
In the World Cup competitions held before the Christmas break, Lepistö’s lowest result was 37th. At his best, the man was eighteenth in Ruka’s traditional ten.
At the Tour de Ski, there has been no placing in 37 checks.
– This was the biggest disappointment on this tour. If you have skied here before, there have been top bets in the time trial.
In 2020, he was 11th in the Val di Fiemme traditional sprint time trial, and 13th in 2021.
Are you going to ski until the end of the Tour?
– We’ll see. I doubt I won’t ski all of them. In two weeks there will be the WC skiing in Tampere.
