Beach volleyball Olympic champion Laura Ludwig wants to take her time with her comeback after the birth of her second child.
A re-entry at the end of the year is “a thought, but not a must,” said the 36-year-old in an interview with “Sport Bild”: “I’d probably rather train 100 percent and then get on in 2023.”
The second child of the Rio de Janeiro gold medalist and former national coach Imornefe Bowes is expected to be born in early May.
The search for a new partner in the sand is currently only a low priority for Ludwig. “I’m still in the finding phase. There are many interesting constellations, but as a mother of two children I’m in a special situation,” said the Hamburg native: “My partner has to deal with it too. If she understands that, the conversations are easier.”
