Laura Gimmler with a career record in Drammen

Cross-country skier Laura Gimmler achieved the best result of her career in fourth place in the classic sprint in Drammen, Norway.

The girl from Oberstdorf, who won silver with the German relay at the World Championships in Planica, advanced to the final of the six best runners at the city event. There she was just 0.33 seconds off the podium.

Sandra Ringwald, who finished second in Cogne in February 2019, remains the last German on a sprint podium.

The victories on the narrow course in the city center of the city of 65,000 up to the Bragernes church went to Kristine Stavaas Skistad and world champion Johannes Hösflot Kläbo (both Norway).

Team sprint Olympic champion Katharina Hennig (Oberwiesenthal) was 34th in the prologue and missed the quarterfinals of the top 30 runners, as did Pia Fink (Bremelau/35th), Sofie Krehl (37th) and Coletta Rydzek (both Oberstdorf/38th).
