Nicholas Latifi surprisingly clocked the fastest time in the final practice for the Hungarian Grand Prix on Saturday. Max Verstappen was fourth in the Red Bull on the soaking wet asphalt of the Hungaroring. Charles Leclerc was second in the Ferrari.
Before the training started in Hungary, it started to rain heavily in Budapest, and this continued until halfway through the training. For a long time, the best times were therefore set with the rain tires. Leclerc was the fastest for a long time, while Verstappen did not try the blue rain rubber at all and stayed inside.
It was only in the final phase that the track really dried up and the intermediate tire came to the fore. The session was briefly interrupted by a slider from Sebastian Vettel, but then many fast times were set. Latifi did the best, he was six tenths faster than Leclerc. It was no fluke of the Williams driver: his teammate Alexander Albon drove the third time, even before the fourth time of World Cup leader Verstappen.
